Day of the Dead Murals X.
The Murals of Jalatlaco
Continuing down Aldama we turn left at the corner of Ninos Heroes and walk almost all the way over to the busy four lane Vasconcellos. Just in from that busy street we find a small hotel...Los Abuelos. And here is a lovely Day of the Dead mural with a hummingbird...they are almost as common here as sparrows...and a grasshopper, one of the diet staples...an agave and its product...mezcal ...and shot glasses...etc. A very nice little mural. No name identifying the artist.
Now we turn and retrace our steps and arrive back at the corner of Aldama and Curtirudias and on a garage door we find this imposing skull with headphones. Interesting that it is done not so much in fun as a reminder of our brief passage. We also find the signature but as it is not legible it is almost useless. As I have said elsewhere...art begets art and public art beget another commission...sign your work!
And now continuing about half a block up Aldama we find this nice large mural which has been here for several years. I think that last year it was worked on again and I believe they added the dark...black ...near the top. I don’t recall that it was quite so ...ominous...prior to last year.
