Day of the Dead Murals XIII
The Murals of Jalatlaco
Finally we are back where we started...the corner of Hidalgo with La Republica. Earlier this past summer an ice cream store opened on the uphill side of this long building...with a mural by Bouler over a pink ground. About two months ago I saw the front wall of the rest of the building being painted a similar pink and once again I suspcted a mural was on its way. Once again I was right!
This is one of the larger murals here in Jalatlaco...there are others as big but not many. Because it is a popular parking area it is all but impossible to see the whole of the work here at any one time, or the overall design. Usually Bouler does have a main design and that is what holds his work together. These obstacles might also have dictated the wide spread large design motifs.
Becaue not all of it can be seen I have included photographs of the vaious passages as a work in progress.
I do want to call your attention to the ever present bottle of mezcal and the shot glasses. Here a small creature in the upper right hand corner is pouring a shot for a fellow creature at the lower right hand cornee. I love the tricklle down drops.
